5. Which task did you do, and what was the aim of the task?
6. What information did you need, and how did you use the information?
7. What did you find out?
Avika Jindel.
ReplyDelete1. I enjoyed performing these activities. I liked how different it was compared to having tests. The project was well organized and we were given a rubric so we had something to work towards.
2. I think these tasks were not very challenging.
3. These activities helped me understand what we were expected to know and for some it was easier to be able to ask the teacher questions and clarify doubts unlike during test conditions.
4. I don't think any improvements could be made.
5. I did the cartoon task and the aim of the task was to find out when a cartoon character is enlarged to your height are its body parts proportionate to yours or not.
6. You need information like your height and the characters height to find the scale. Then you need their hands, feet, arms, legs and face depending on what you decide to compare.
7. I found out we were not at all proportionate except for our arms.
1) Personally I really enjoyed doing the IKEA project as we got to go to IKEA which was really fun. I also really enjoyed getting to make my own room and making it into scale.
ReplyDelete2) For me, I didn't find the IKEA project that hard because once you had the scale and everything written down neatly it was very easy to do the rest.
3) I think this unit did expand my learning because I learn't how to scale things better as before it I was a bit nervous scaling but now I understand it well.
4) Personally, I don't think their are any improvements needed.
5) I did the choice assessment of the cartoon project. What do you is pick a cartoon (I did spongebob) and expand 5 of his body parts to your size using a scale and say if they are dimensional to yours.
6) I needed, my 5 dimensions, spongebob's 5 dimensions and the scale factor. I used this to make his dimensions to my size then work out if they were dimensional.
7) I found out that spongebob is very unproportional to me.

ReplyDelete1.Did you enjoy performing these activities? (What did you like/dislike?)
I did not enjoy going to ikea I thought that finding the products online and measurements much easier
2. Were the tasks challenging enough?
The tasks were very challenging for me and I often required assistance.
3. Did these activities help your understanding or extend your knowledge? (Please explain.)
Yes they did when I received the help this helped expand my knowledge In ratio
4. What improvements, if any, could be made?
If we could have a smaller room and 11 objects that are compulsory to use.
The Choice Project
5. Which task did you do, and what was the aim of the task?
I did the if I were two task, the aim of the task was to find out if you had the same perspective as your younger sibling how big would an object be.
6. What information did you need, and how did you use the information?
Our hight’s and at least 5 household items and their measurements.
7. What did you find out?
That if I had the same perspective as my sibling the door would be over 2m and 70cm!

ReplyDeleteDid you enjoy performing these activities? (What did you like/dislike?)
Yes, I enjoyed using my scale to make an accurate floor plan. I also liked how it was a bit like a challenge rather than a math problem.
Were the tasks challenging enough?
I thought it was quite challenging but I feel like it could have been more challenging.
Did these activities help your understanding or extend your knowledge? (Please explain.)
No, but I did feel like I practiced my skills well and but what I had learnt how to put them into action.
What improvements, if any, could be made?
I think no improvements are needed and that it is fine the way it is.
The Choice Project
Which task did you do, and what was the aim of the task?
I had to see if I would be proportionate to a cartoon character if they where my height. The aim was to compare at least 5 body parts to see if they would be proportionate.
What information did you need, and how did you use the information?
I needed the cartoon character’s and my height, arm length, leg length, hand length, foot length and head length. I needed the height so I could find a scale factor to compare us too and I needed the other measurements to compare our measurements.
What did you find out?
I found out that if Lisa were my height she would not be proportionate to me and that her head would be very big.

ReplyDelete1. Did you enjoy performing these activities? (What did you like/dislike?)
I liked doing these activities. I really liked the choice project and Ikea project because we got to apply our skill in a real life problem. It helped me understand the concepts further and what it is like in the real world.
Were the tasks challenging enough?
The tasks were challenging in some aspects. For example, in the Ikea project I had a hard time deciding my scale.
Did these activities help your understanding or extend your knowledge? (Please explain.)
Yes they did, because I got to apply my skills in a different way.
4. What improvements, if any, could be made?
Nothing much, it was quit good.
The Choice Project
5. Which task did you do, and what was the aim of the task?
I did the cartoon project. The aim was to find out wether the cartoon was proportional or not to you
6. What information did you need, and how did you use the information?
I needed the information of my body parts and the minions body parts. I used this to find a scale that I could multiply the minions measurements to see what it would be in my size.
What did you find out?
That scales can be used in different ways and that a minion is
Arnav Desai,
ReplyDelete1. I like doing the activities, i liked the IKEA project especially because it was really creative and it is not just like sitting down and doing some boring test.
2. The tasks were kind of challenging
3. They helped a lot with me learning ratio as it is my first time doing this unit.
4. I think that it is fine the way it is.
5. We compared the ratio of of a cartoon character to us and saw if we were proportional to each other in real life.
6. You need different measurements of parts of your body that you decide to compare.
7. I found out that only our head width and teeth were proportional

ReplyDeleteDid you enjoy performing these activities? (What did you like/dislike?)
I enjoyed these activities since they were really different to something we would normally do for an assessment and I really feel like they challenged my knowledge on the topic.
Were the tasks challenging enough?
As said in the question above, yes they were challenging enough since they were different and unique.
Did these activities help your understanding or extend your knowledge? (Please explain.)
They made me use what I have learnt in class a lot so like scale, scale factor etc. They really did help me understand my knowledge because I had to put everything I learnt into use.
What improvements, if any, could be made?
I don’t think any improvements are necessary.
The Choice Project
Which task did you do, and what was the aim of the task?
I did the Cartoon character task and you basically had to measure yourself and the cartoon character and see what measurements the charcter would be when blown up to your height and what would be proportionate and unproportionate.
What information did you need, and how did you use the information?
I needed at least 5 different measurements of myself and the cartoon character of choice and I multipleyed and divided the measurements, found the scale factor and wrote my thinking.
7. What did you find out?
I found out that the cartoon character of choice wouldn’t be really proportionate if she was blown up and some of the measurements would be pretty close to eachother but some of the measurements would be really far apart.
1. I really enjoyed doing the Ikea scale drawing and the choice project and I really enjoyed them because, we were able to use our learning to do theses projects, but at the same time we were having a bit of fun designing a room, and choosing a fun project to show Mr.Jobe how well we understood ratios and scales. I enjoyed the concept of designing our own rooms, and being able to create our own scales, but at first I was a bit lost as to how to find out a scale that would be suitable, but then I figured it out in the end.
ReplyDelete2. I think that the tasks were not too challenging, and that they were just right.
3. The Ikea project helped me understand how to come up with a suitable scale and use that scale to create a scaled drawing, and the choice project helped me understand how to find out a scale factor and apply that to find out the measurements of someone else eg. A cartoon character when we blow them up to our size. After these two activities, I understand scales and scale factors much better now.
4. I think that everything wet pretty smoothly, and I really enjoyed doing these two activities.
5. I did enlarging a cartoon character and seeing wether they are proportional to me or not. The aim of the task was to work out a scale and scale factor and see wether you would be proportional to a cartoon character when you enlarge them to your size.
6. I need to know spongebob’s height and my height. I needed to find out my height and divide that by Spongebob’s height and by doing this I will get a scale factor. Then, measured parts of Spongebob’s body, then times them by my scale factor and I compared that to my measurements to see wether Spongebob enlarged is proportional to me or not.
7. I found out that spongebob when enlarged to my height is not proportional to me.
1. Did you enjoy performing these activities? (What did you like/dislike?)
ReplyDeleteYes, because they were not normal class activities and were therefore different to the other things we normally do.
Were the tasks challenging enough?
I felt that I learn’t a lot from doing them so they were not to hard but hard enough.
3. Did these activities help your understanding or extend your knowledge? (Please explain.)
Yes they helped my understanding of scaling things up.
What improvements, if any, could be made?
I found that it was really good and it is hard to improve
The Choice Project
Which task did you do, and what was the aim of the task?
I did scaling up a doll or a cartoon character, the aim was to find out wether they would be proportional when the got scaled up.
What information did you need, and how did you use the information?
I needed to know the scale factor because I needed it to scale the bear up.
What did you find out?
I found out that the hand of the bear would be almost my exact size but the head would be much bigger than my head.
1. I did enjoy the activities, and I especially liked the choices project (cartoon character), because you can find out how proportional you are to the character you chose.
ReplyDelete2. The challenges were quite challenging, but it became easy after getting the hang of it.
3. Yes, it helped me a lot in fact, because at the start of this unit I didn’t even know what ratio even meant. I think its a huge improvement.
4. I could improve more on understanding to calculate the scale factor of 2 different things, because I always tend to forget how.
5. I have chosen the cartoon character, and the aim was to see how proportional the cartoon character is to you.
6. I needed the character’s photo and my photo scaled to the character’s body. Then I used this to calculate the character’s proportions of different body parts to mine that is enlarged, and see if its proportional to mine.
7. I found out that squidward’s head was way bigger than my head’s proportions.
Reflection:
ReplyDelete1. I liked both of them for most of the part. For Ikea I liked everything. But for the choice project I found that doing bigger is better is very tedious because you have to repeat everything five times which takes quite long.
2. Yes because it takes a long time and it is tough at the start but it becomes easy after you know the process.
It did because I did not really understand ratios at all before these activities, but now I know how to design a room and how to convert regular objects into you’re scale.
Maybe we could make an portfolio or make some sort of presentation.
The Choice Project
5.I did is buying bigger better and the of the task is to find out if buying bigger is better.
6.I needed the cost of the product the amount of product.
7.From the products that I used, buying bigger is always better.
1)Yes because it was fun and gave me a good idea on how to use ratios and where they are in daily life
ReplyDelete2) i think they were challenging but i could do it
3) yes they show me where you can find ratios and how to use them
4)i think that it should stay the same as it is
CHOICE PROJECT
5) The task that i did was the cartoon project. the aim of the task was to enlarge the cartoon character to your size and see if there hand or leg were proportional to your own
6) the information that i needed was what to choose from and how things to enlarge
7) I found out that some of Batman's parts were proportional and some were not proportional

ReplyDeleteDid you enjoy performing these activities? (What did you like/dislike?)
I enjoyed the activities because we got to work with new people and work together as a team to figure out the problems.
Were the tasks challenging enough?
I think there were some challenging ones and some easier ones, which is good because there was a balance.
Did these activities help your understanding or extend your knowledge? (Please explain.)
It helped my understanding because we got to learn new formulas, which extended our knowledge and found out how to figure out more complex questions.
What improvements, if any, could be made?
An improvement that could be made would be to have more stations so that we can try out newer things. Other than that, not many improvements are needed.
The Choice Project
Which task did you do, and what was the aim of the task?
I chose to do the Cartoon project which was when we had to blow up a cartoon to make it our height. The purpose of the project was to figure out if the cartoon would be proportional to you, which means the dimensions would be the same.
What information did you need, and how did you use the information?
The information I needed was the original dimensions of the character so I can use it to find a scale to my measurements.
What did you find out?
I found out that the character was not proportional to me because the measurements were really far off.

ReplyDelete1. Did you enjoy performing these activities? (What did you like/dislike?)
I liked the activities, because I got to work with different people, and they would explain stuff if I didn't understand.
2. Were the tasks challenging enough?
I didn't find them that challenging because once you got the basic idea they were pretty east.
3. Did these activities help your understanding or extend your knowledge? (Please explain.)
They helped my understanding with scale drawings
4. What improvements, if any, could be made?
None
The Choice Project
5. Which task did you do, and what was the aim of the task?
I did the cartoon one, and you had to find out if a cartoon character was proportional to you.
6. What information did you need, and how did you use the information?
I needed the measurements of my character and mine, as well as out heights and I needed the heights to find the scale factor and the measurements to compare.
7. What did you find out?
I found out that the character wasn't really proportional because most of the measurements were really far off, like the nose.
